A free travel map widget for Squarespace
Add a free map & gallery of nearby travel spots to any Squarespace page with a single Code Block — no plugins, no code.
Add it to Squarespace in about a minute
- Edit the page and add a Code Block where you want the widget.
- Paste the one line below into the Code Block.
- Save — it renders right there and resizes itself.
<script async src="https://photerra.com/embed/v1/loader.js" data-hub="sf" data-layout="grid" data-cfasync="false"></script>Customize the location, layout, theme and colors — and copy your exact line — in the widget builder.
Code Blocks are available on Squarespace’s Business plan and above; on Personal you will not see the block in the insert menu. The widget renders in an iframe, so Squarespace’s own AJAX page transitions do not interfere with it, and it does not need the “Code Injection” panel.
Questions
- Which Squarespace plan do I need?
- Business or Commerce. Code Blocks are not available on the Personal plan — that is a Squarespace plan restriction, not a Photerra one.
- The block shows a placeholder in the editor. Is it broken?
- No. Squarespace deliberately does not execute embedded code inside the editor preview. Save and view the live page, or open the preview in a new tab, and the widget renders.
- Can I match it to my template’s colors?
- Yes — pick the accent, background, corner radius and font in the builder, or choose the “Native” style, which is transparent and borderless so it sits directly on your own section background.
Every photo is real travel photography, shown with credit to the person who made it, and we honor each contributor’s privacy choices. It’s free because it helps people discover great places — not because we sell anyone’s data.
The photography behind it
Every photo in the widget is a real place at a real coordinate, contributed by a traveler or drawn from openly-licensed archives — the same corpus behind Photerra’s destination pages.
