Questions
- Is the Photerra widget really free?
- Yes, and it stays free for commercial sites — hotels, vacation rentals, tour operators, restaurants, tourism boards and travel publishers. There is no account, no trial and no paid tier.
- Does the widget track my visitors?
- No. It sets no cookies, writes nothing to browser storage and creates no visitor identifier, so it needs no entry in your cookie banner. It sends one message per embed load telling us which domain it loaded on and whether it rendered, so we can find broken installs. Nothing in it describes the visitor.
- Will it slow down my site?
- No. The loader is a small asynchronous script, and the widget renders inside a lazy-loaded iframe that reserves its height in advance, so it never blocks your page and cannot shift your layout.
- Which website builders does it work with?
- WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, Shopify and any site where you can paste a line of HTML.
- Who owns the photos and do I need permission?
- Photographers keep their copyright. Displaying the widget is covered by Photerra’s Terms, and every photo carries its credit inside the widget — openly-licensed archive photography names the author, the licence and the source, and traveler photography names the contributor unless they have chosen Quiet Mode, in which case the widget names nobody rather than invent a name. The one condition is that credits are not removed or covered.
